About Radio NOS
Radio NOS is the largest news organization in the Netherlands, providing news coverage across TV, radio, and its website. It offers reliable, independent round-the-clock reporting on news, current affairs, sports, and national and international events. However, NOS, which stands for Nederland Omroep Stichting (Dutch Broadcasting Foundation), is a major player in Dutch public broadcasting.
Radio NOS must provide objective coverage of news, sports, and international events on all available media for all inhabitants of the Netherlands in order to inform them and thus enable them to better form their own opinion. It collaborates with NTR, another broadcaster, to produce Nieuwsuur (News Hour), a daily current affairs program for TV. The station operates independently from the government, even though the Dutch public broadcasting system is partially funded by tax payers’ money (and partially by the revenue of commercials).
