Radio Heideroosje

Radio Heideroosje is a Netherlands-based specialized internet radio station broadcasting from Venlo, Limburg, that serves as an “Ode aan de Rat” (Ode to the Rat) and focuses on the music that defined the original pirate radio era. The name “Heideroosje” is tied to an earlier pirate radio tradition in the Venlo region. The station was originally an illegal “pirate” broadcaster founded in 1980 by Herman Faessen, widely known by his nickname “Herm De Rat.” It provides a wide variety of music, including Dutch, German, and English songs, and occasionally regional favorites. The station’s playlist consists primarily of Piratenhits (Pirate hits), Schlager, Oldies, and Limburgish regional music. It also features nostalgic and classic tracks (“Ode aan de Rat”).
